Privacy Policy for ReceiptGenie
ReceiptGenie Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
The privacy of your data — and it is your data, not ours! — is a big deal to us. In this policy, we lay out: what data we collect and why; how your data is handled; and your rights with respect to your data. We promise we never sell your data: never have, never will.
This policy applies to all products built and maintained by ReceiptGenie.
What we collect and why
Identity & access
ReceiptGenie creates an app account and session so you can use our receipt-processing service. You can sign in with Apple on iOS or Google on Android. We receive the provider’s account identifier and the profile information it makes available, such as your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email. We use this information to authenticate you, associate your requests with your account, and provide account support.
Receipt data
When you scan or import a receipt, we receive the image or PDF and process it to extract receipt information. AI features such as reprocessing, translation, and tag suggestions also send the information needed for the requested feature, which may include receipt text, your corrections, and feedback.
We use paid third-party AI services to process receipts and provide these features. Our providers state that receipt content submitted through these services is not used to train their own AI models. See our AI processing provider’s service terms and our document processing provider’s data privacy information. The document processing service remains available for compatible older app workflows.
Uploaded files are stored using cloud hosting and storage providers. Our server database associates receipt files and extraction results with your app account. Server processing records and diagnostic logs may also contain source-file references, submitted receipt information, extraction results, and failure details for troubleshooting.
Your app’s receipt library is stored on your device. On iOS, eligible library data can sync through your Apple iCloud account; Android keeps its library locally. Server recovery copies can assist support but do not replace your device library or preserve every later edit, tag, or report.
We retain receipt files and related data for processing, recovery, and troubleshooting. You can request deletion by contacting support@receipt-genie.com.
Usage data
We use PostHog for product analytics and Google Analytics for Firebase (GA4) to understand app use and measure acquisition. Events include app opens, screen visits, feature interactions, onboarding completion, the first accepted receipt submission, the first successful extraction, and subscription purchases. They can include app and device information, language, installation identifiers, counts, status flags, and subscription product, price, and currency.
PostHog activity may be associated with your app or sign-in account identifier. Analytics services also receive network information such as your IP address and may derive an approximate location from it. Firebase uses its app-instance identifiers; we do not set a Firebase user ID. Acquisition measurement is connected to Google Ads to understand campaign results.
Our product and acquisition analytics exclude receipt images, PDFs, extracted receipt text, merchant details, line items, filenames, source URLs, processing-job identifiers, free-text feedback, and raw error messages. This analytics boundary is separate from the receipt processing and diagnostic records described above. We do not use session replay or collect IDFA or Android advertising IDs, and we do not use this release’s analytics for personalized advertising or remarketing.
Subscriptions
Apple or Google processes subscription payments through its store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and purchase restoration. This involves app/customer identifiers, product and transaction information, and entitlement status. We do not receive your full payment-card details from the stores.
Cookies and Do Not Track
Our website uses a language-preference cookie. Mobile apps and integrated services use local storage and identifiers for sessions, settings, subscriptions, and analytics as described above.
Voluntary correspondence
When you write to us with a question or to ask for help, we keep that correspondence, including your email address, so that we have a history of past communications to reference if you reach out in the future. In-app support chat is provided by Crisp. When you open chat, Crisp receives your messages and may receive your app account identifier and available name or email address to help us support you.
We also store information you may volunteer, for example, written responses to surveys. If you agree to a customer interview, we may ask for your permission to record the conversation for future reference or use. We only do so with your express consent.
When we access or share your information
To provide and operate ReceiptGenie. We use the identity, AI processing, storage, analytics, subscription, and support providers described above. These providers receive the data needed for their respective services. We do not sell your receipt files or other personal data to third parties.
To help you troubleshoot or squash a software bug, with your permission. If at any point we need to access your receipt data to help you with a support case, we will ask for your consent before proceeding.
To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding restricted uses. Accessing a customer’s account when investigating potential abuse is a measure of last resort. We want to protect the privacy and safety of our customers and the people they serve.
When required under applicable law.
ReceiptGenie is operated by Botisan AI Pte. Ltd., a Singapore company. Our service providers may process and store data outside Singapore; see the location section below.
- If Singapore law enforcement authorities have the necessary warrant, criminal subpoena, or court order requiring we share data, we have to comply. Otherwise, we flat-out reject requests from local and federal law enforcement when they seek data. And unless we’re legally prevented from it, we’ll always inform you when such requests are made. In the event a government authority outside Singapore approaches us with a request, our default stance is to refuse unless the Singapore government compels us to comply through procedures outlined in a mutual legal assistance treaty or agreement.
- Similarly, if ReceiptGenie receives a request to preserve data, we refuse unless compelled by Singapore law. In these situations, we notify affected customers as soon as possible unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
- If we get an informal request from any person, organization, or entity, we do not assist.
- If we are audited by a tax authority, we may be required to share billing-related information. If that happens, we only share the minimum needed, such as billing addresses and tax exemption information.
Finally, if ReceiptGenie is acquired by or merged with another company — we don’t plan on that, but if it happens — we’ll notify you well before any info about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Your rights with respect to your information
At ReceiptGenie, we apply the same data rights to all customers, regardless of their location. These rights include:
- Right to Know. You have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared or sold. We outline both the categories and specific bits of data we collect, as well as how they are used, in this privacy policy.
- Right of Access. This includes your right to access the personal information we gather about you, and your right to obtain information about the sharing, storage, security and processing of that information.
- Right to Correction. You have the right to request correction of your personal information.
- Right to Erasure / “To be Forgotten”. This is your right to request, subject to certain limitations under applicable law, that your personal information be erased from our possession and, by extension, from all of our service providers. Fulfillment of some data deletion requests may prevent you from using ReceiptGenie services because our applications may then no longer work. In such cases, a data deletion request may result in closing your account.
- Right to Complain. You have the right to make a complaint regarding our handling of your personal information with the appropriate supervisory authority.
- Right to Restrict Processing. This is your right to request restriction of how and why your personal information is used or processed, including opting out of sale of personal information. (Again: we never have and never will sell your personal data.)
- Right to Object. You have the right, in certain situations, to object to how or why your personal information is processed.
- Right to Portability. You have the right to receive the personal information we have about you and the right to transmit it to another party.
- Right to not be subject to Automated Decision-Making. You have the right to object to and prevent any decision that could have a legal or similarly significant effect on you from being made solely based on automated processes. This right is limited if the decision is necessary for performance of any contract between you and us, is allowed by applicable law, or is based on your explicit consent.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. We do not and will not charge you a different amount to use our products, offer you different discounts, or give you a lower level of customer service because you have exercised your data privacy rights. However, the exercise of certain rights may, by virtue of your exercising those rights, prevent you from using our Services.
Many of these rights can be exercised by signing in and updating your account information.
If you have questions about exercising these rights or need assistance, please contact us at support@receipt-genie.com.
How we secure your data
Our apps and website use HTTPS to communicate with our service, and receipt uploads use HTTPS to reach object storage. Storage and service accounts also use the security controls provided by their hosting platforms.
What happens when you delete content in your product accounts
Deleting a receipt in the app removes it from your app library and makes its server recovery record unavailable through the normal recovery list. This does not by itself erase the uploaded file or all server processing records. To request deletion of retained server data or your account, contact support@receipt-genie.com. See our account and data deletion instructions for details. Uninstalling the app or signing out does not submit a deletion request.
We process account and retained-data deletion requests manually and without undue delay. Completion may take up to 90 days, or less where applicable law requires a shorter timeframe. We will confirm when your request has been completed. For urgent requests, contact support@receipt-genie.com; you do not need to request expedited handling for applicable legal deadlines to apply.
Location of site and data
We operate ReceiptGenie from Singapore and use service providers with infrastructure in other countries. Your data may be processed in Singapore and in the countries where those providers operate. For example, our PostHog project uses its European service endpoint. Provider processing is governed by the applicable service agreements and data-protection requirements.
